Wrap up the semester

This semester I was able to reach the goal of three independent books and posts. I read three books and my favorite was Legend by Maire Lu. This book always kept you on your toes wanting more. I loved having the freedom to read whatever I wanted and take my time. Also I enjoyed being able to blog about what I wanted to because I felt had more freedom to express how I really felt about the book. I really liked how laid back this project was because it turned into something I didn't mind doing since I had so much freedom.

Some days I did not enjoy blogging because I just wanted to read which I loved to be able to do. One thing that I found quiet a hassle was the commenting because there were so many steps to just get to one persons blog. I felt that commenting was some what unnecessary to do because just looking at other blogs was suitable for me. I also found commenting very stressful.

Next semester I would like to make my posts more thoughtful and deep rather than just skimming the surface like I did this semester. I also would like to try to read 5 books and have some be more challenging than others. Also I would like to try and read a classic novel and not just the teen fiction I read before.

12/1 Girlfriend Material

In the book Girlfriend Material by Melissa Kantor I loved the main character Katie. She is a person most people can relate to. She is just an average every day girl who is pulled out of her fun planned summer to go to an unknown place with her mom but tries to make the best of it. I love the way the author portrays Katie because she is not the"it" girl but is just normal who gets thrown into a life with a bunch of rich people where she feels out of place; which is a feeling most of us have experienced.

I love the way the author starts the book where she is imaging all the cool things any teen girl imagines. Then when she arrives it goes totally wrong and she just wants to go back to Salt Lake City. As the time passes her dreams slowly start to come true till the end of the trip her dreams are exactly what she had dreamed of.

Legend by Marie Lu

I recently finished Legend by Marie Lu. This book is defiantly my new favorite book. I read it all in one day because it is so good you can't put it down. I would give this book 5/5 because it leaves you in suspense but it also leaves you stratified . This book is action filled and suspenseful during the whole ride. You feel like you are actually in the book standing next to the characters.

I not sure what book to start so, if anyone has ideas of new books for me to read just let me know.

Legend by Marie Lu

I just finished Lola and the Boy Next Door and it was a wonderful book. I am starting Legend which Meghan suggested me to read. She also recommended this book because aunt helped publish the book she was an editor. This is the amazon customer review:

By Specibrarian on December 3, 2011
Format: Hardcover
I, too, read this in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. Fast, twisty, focused. I also just read Eve by Anna Carey and while the Eve and June have a similar starting point (elite education in a dystopian future post-plague western US with girl who starts to see through the veneer of the ruling class), Marie Lu's June is written as a more active and empowered girl while Carey's Eve is very inexperienced, even though she can take action. Both are worth a read, but Legend's pacing just rocks and Day really leaps off the page. Lu is not afraid to let her characters get beat up (er, really beat up) and take some wild crazy risks.

Lola and the Boy Next Door 10/6

The book Lola and the Boy Next Door I would rate at 4.5/ 5 stars. The book is fabulously written, with great language and description. I love the plot line and how you can't relate to it and relate to it in the story. Lola has a crazy birth mom, a boyfriend her dads don't approve of and her ex-crush moved back in next door. The only thing I don't like about the book is the slow start. If you are looking for a funny and crazy ride o hook on to and read try reading this book. Also this book is more of a girly book and boys probably won't enjoy it.

Lola and The Boy Next Door 9/22

In the book Lola and The Boy Next Door I liked the way the author described the setting. The book has a very descriptive setting which lets you really feel like you are there. One of the descriptions I like the most would be the descriptions of the houses and how they all are uniquely colored just like how unique the character is which her style of clothes and wigs.

Also the author Stephanie Perkins describes the characters to fit the setting which I really like. The area that Lola lives in is very colorful and happy just like her. Her boyfriend Max lives in a scarier part of San Francisco which fits his dark and mysterious personality. Lola's best friend lived is a normal suburban neighborhood in San Francisco which fits her average appearance and personality.

I also love the way that the author makes Lola adopted by her uncle and that Lola has blood ties to one of her dads. It also helps show that she gets her spunk from her mom which is her dad Nathan's sister Nora. It also keeps Lola's mom and the story and helps describe what Lola's past is.
