Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

In the book Fahrenheit 451  by Ray Bradbury, I love the way Bradbury just throws you into the book. I love how you start out confused and have to figure it out. I dislike when an author or other character explain the society or who it is this way because then I do not have to do any really hard thinking and I just read. I love to figure things out and just being thrown right into the action of the book. It gets you so intrigued and surprised right at the beginning. Bradbury does an amazing job at this.

This book reminded me of the article "Harrison Bergeron" and the movie we watched in class 2081. One connection I see is the prohibition of books in the society. Which personally I find horrible because I love to read. Also I think that in order for a society to grow they need to read and know about the past. Which is another connection where neither society knows anything about the past before the way the place was before. This makes society hard to change because they know nothing other than the way it is. Also in all of these works everyone but one or two people have "average intelligence" which is really extreme stupidity. The few who are different try to get people to realize what society/ the government has turned out to be and what out used to be like.

So far I absolutely love the book Fahrenheit 451! I have not really read many books about society in the future which gets me really excited to read different types of books. This book has me really interested and keeps me guessing the whole time.

The Million Dollar Man by Juila Novak

I read the book Million Dollar Man  over winter break. It is more of a lengthy book than most I read but in my opinion it was phenomenal. The book was really well written and had amazing description. The main character in this book was named Evite she was a head-strong girl who had lost both her parents. She was left with her brother who lived a bad life doing illegal things. Her brother is forced to give her up to another man for his protection. Evie takes this with no complaints and puts up with every thing just for her loved ones to be protected. I adore Evie and her personality. I think most girls should look at how strong and independent she is. The author shows how strong girls can be and the things they will do to protect their loved ones.

This book I would rate a 5 star because I just couldn't put it down and it really was a roller coaster for your emotions. This book always would surprise you and it was never predictable. Novak made enemies have similar personalities which you could see who related to who based off their personalities. Each chapter left with a cliffhanger which I absolutely loved. The only critique I have of the book was it was very violent.

I can't wait to read the sequel of this book when its published. I read the teaser and it sounds absolutely amazing. The book is based off Evie and her brothers relationship after he gets her back and the relationship between her and her keeper. This book is much more violent.
